1984 – When my children were very young (before school age), my husband at that time felt that we didn’t need any more than $25.00 a week for food and supplies. Of course that was ridiculous for a family of 4.
One day, I did not have any food in the house to feed my children, so I decided to give God a grocery list.
I wrote out a list of everything that I needed, which at the time, I was out of everything, so it was a good size list! Ha ha.
I then sat down and prayed out loud to God for my ongoing grocery list.
About an hour later, I had a knock at the door. It was one of the ladies from my women’s group at church! She said that she was shopping and all of a sudden something came over her and she was to spend $100.00 on groceries for me!
She gave me all kinds of meats, cheese, bread, soups, milk, butter, condiments, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. I can’t remember everything but it was as if she just bought almost everything in the store! I had so much that I was overwhelmed with gratitude.
After she left, I got a phone call from another friend. She said that she had an over abundance in her garden and wanted to know if I could come over and pick what I wanted out of her garden and off of her fruit trees! By the time I got there she had bags upon bags of green beans, corn on the cob, carrots, lettuce, and other veggies. Plus, she also had bags of apples, pears, and peaches! I had way too much!
I came home to find out that I received another phone call. Another friend said that she had extra sweets and wanted to know if she could drop them off for me. Of course I said, “Yes!”
My kitchen and living room were full of bags of all kinds of food and supplies! I had an over abundance and I was able to give out some of these things to my neighborhood and family with plenty to spare!
This was a true miracle for God!
I had to just sit and laugh because God is just too funny!
