Warren Moyer was born on January 5th, 1925, and he was raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8th, 2011, from assorted health problems.
Warren was a Navy veteran of World War Two, and thereafter was employed for many years as a Lineman at Metropolitan Edison Co. He is remembered by his family and friends as a gentle, witty, and kind loving man.
Warren also loved animals. His wonderful and endearing heart led and inspired many people by the example in which he lived. Warren was filled with selfless love and graciousness. He was not only, not capable, to hurt anyone’s feelings with his words. Warren went to great lengths before he spoke, careful to speak with the nicest words possible to lift up others and encourage them.
He was very generous to his family and others, and had one primary hobby for decades. Warren was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles football fan ~ only living around a little over an hour from Philadelphia. He loved the Eagles so much, that it pained him to watch them at times, including when they had a string of over a decade long, losing seasons. But he never missed a game if it was at all possible, on TV. And a number of times a year, he secured tickets to see the games with his nephew, live, in the City of Brotherly Love.
Things were not going well for awhile for Warren. Years earlier, he had to get a quadruple bypass heart surgery. And in more recently history, his girlfriend had passed away. He then fell in his apartment, having passed out from congestive heart failure, and no one knew this for approximately one day. Warren was lying face down on the carpet, and was eventually taken to the hospital.
Praise God, Warren responded and woke up, but he had apparently broken his knee in the fall at his apartment. Thereafter leaving the hospital, he was transported to a rehabilitation center.
Things were not going well with his therapy, and he was not getting any better. He had a real worriment that he would not be going back home again, and would have to be cared for, long-term, in a medical facility.
He had diabetes, the past heart issues, sudden problems with his internal passageways due to years of taking medications, suddenly could not walk, and he was in his early 80’s.
One day, a Christian, moved by the Holy Spirit, drove almost an hour to testify of Jesus to him. Warren watched shows pertaining to sermon messages on TV in the past, and he had about as wonderful of a heart as anyone could dream to meet. However, he had never had that defining moment in time, called justification, where he repented his sins and gave his life to Jesus.
After about 45 minutes of the witness testifying and the reading of one Bible verse, John 3:16, Warren gave his life to Jesus Christ, saying that he did have faith, and did in fact, believe in Jesus Christ.
In moments like this, someone might wonder whether someone truly did give their life to Jesus. However, from that point forward, and over the next two months or so, in the rehabilitation center, Warren was clearly touched by the Holy Spirit, and a noticeably different person.
This included that he was excitedly asking a number of questions about God and His Word, such as the crosses at Calvary, and professing a mixture of awe and wonderment, as to how God could do everything that He does in such a big world.
One day, while lying down in his bed in the rehabilitation center, he asked his niece, who was the only person present at the time, “who are those two people at the foot of my bed, and what are they doing there?”
Warren’s niece knew that no one else was present, including at the foot of the bed, in the direction that he was pointing to. But, she asked anyway, “what do they look like?”
“They were 9’ tall, they were dressed real sweet, and they just flew off!!!
Only a few days later, Warren Moyer passed away.
We thank the Lord Jesus for His sacrifice and grace in securing Warren to have everlasting life in Heaven. Warren’s loving-kind spirit will be living eternally with God the Father, Jesus the Son of God, the Holy Spirit, a multitude of beautiful Angels, along with his friends and other family members. This includes his loving Mother Mary, and his sister, Dorothy.
Warren and his wonderful demeanor are deeply missed by his friends and family.
Jesus revealed in John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
